GVOAD is a humanitarian association of independent voluntary organizations who may be active in all phases of disaster.
Our mission is to foster efficient, streamlined service delivery to people affected by disaster, while minimizing unnecessary duplication of effort, through cooperation in the four phases of disaster: preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.
Before Georgia VOAD’s existence, volunteer agencies and organization’s involved in disaster response prepared and responded independently, communication was lacking. The response involved overlaps and gaps that affected the quality of service to the survivors.
